Pantry items:

  • Olive Oil

Instructions:

STEAKHOUSE SALAD:

1) Transfer salad mix into a serving bowl. Top with cherry tomatoes, bacon bits, and pickled red onions. Just before serving, toss with desired amount of blue cheese dressing and tuxedo salt. Feel free to add more fresh cracked pepper!

Chef’s Tip: 15 seconds in the microwave will make these bacon bits "fresh-made" and extra delicious!

NY STRIP STEAK:

2) Preheat the oven to 400°F.

3) Unwrap steak and pat dry with a paper towel. Then season liberally with tuxedo salt. This steak is extra thick. That's on purpose – it’s for both of you!

4) Place an oven-safe pan over medium-high heat with about 1 tsp olive oil added to the pan and sear your steak for 3-4 minutes or until well browned. Flip the steak and sear the other side for 2-3 minutes (it will finish browning in the oven).

Don’t have an oven-safe pan? No problem! Use a pan for the searing,
then transfer the steak onto a baking sheet for the oven.

5) Carefully place the pan (with the steak in it!) in the oven to finish
cooking to your desired temperature. We recommend checking after
about five minutes and pulling the steak once it reaches 125ºF for a
perfect medium-rare (it will come to 135 ºF while it rests). Depending on
your oven and your searing, oven time will probably take about 10
minutes total.

Chef’s Tip: We highly recommend using a meat thermometer to achieve
your perfect steak (see our steak doneness temperature guide below if
you don’t love medium rare). And by all means, feel free to grill your
steak on the BBQ if it’s nice enough out!

6) Remove pan from the oven with a hot pad, transfer steak to a plate,
top with everything butter and let rest for about 10 minutes.

MASHED POTATOES & CREAMED SPINACH:

7) While the steak rests, warm the mashed potatoes and creamed
spinach in the microwave with the lid askew until steamy.

TO SERVE:

8) Slice the steak against the grain and serve alongside big helpings of
mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and salad. Enjoy!

STEAK DONENESS TEMPERATURES:

Remove steak at these temperatures before resting for the perfect doneness:

  • 115-125 degrees = Rare
  • 125-135 degrees = Medium Rare
  • 135-145 degrees = Medium
  • 145-155 degrees = Medium Well
  • 155-165 degrees = Well Done
